Eco Fest!!! Event four of four
This day December 3rd I will never forget because it was a day that our class made an event to aware people of what’s going on in our world. We had many booths for people to go to and teach more about their world that they are living in. my group had the bike issue and how it can help out the world by not driving those cars that pollute our air and hurt the ozone layers. We also showed them how not only does riding a bike help the environment but how it helps your health, as shown here on my blog. It helps your circulatory system, your brain! For example it makes you and helps you stay not stressed at all, helps you burn calories and possibly lose some weight, also gain muscle mass and many more can benefit you just from riding your bike up to 30 minutes a day. We also had a small stop called “The Bike Stop” because we wanted to help those people tune up their bikes and make them ride able and for them to enjoy a good ride. I had a blast helping others and showing them how to help the environment, also I had the tunes going on in the event so people could enjoy the event some more and catch other people’s attention and make them wonder what was going on in campus. Another good group that was in our class was also very eye-opening because they showed us about the media and there cruel ways. They showed us the reality of what social media is sending across to those young girls and making them think of how pretty really looks like. The ways that the media sends a message was horrible! Telling them they have to be a size so small that seems unreal, I believe that the way they portray the models is wrong making girls starve themselves and turn bulimic just to try to look like someone that isn’t even real; in that sense that they Photoshop them and even enhance them by putting more make up better finishes on them. Over all, this whole event had many inspiring booths to show us how the world is and can be and how to make it a better place for us. I am glad that I was part of this event that wasn’t only very helpful but I have made a lot of friendships here in this class.
Oaxaca movie night (two out of four events)
This event that I went to was held here at the Ventura college campus and it was about the Oaxaca people. The reason why I went to this event was because I had read a flyer telling us that they would show a video about these people from Oaxaca that fought for what they believed in. what this video was about, was to show people how these people who are called “jarochos” from Veracruz, Mexico would fight for what they believed in. what was very amazing is that when I thought of them fighting for something that they believed in I thought really fast war! But boy was I wrong. The way that they fought in was to fight with music! They would send their messages across with music which means songs that they wrote themselves, and they talked about those who fought for them in the early wars. There objective was to send a political statement to those who didn’t know about the old times and to the government. For many people being a “jarocho” is a way of life traveling and dancing and definitely teaching their audience about those who didn’t know what went on back in the days and how people were corrupt to their people. I was amazed as I saw these people fight and sings with their hearts. I was amazed how these people would fight without a gun being shot like other places but only with words said. I’m glad that I went to an event like this that showed how many people out there are living and fighting for what they believe in. also I liked how there’s groups on campus that shows other cultures and giving us opportunities to learn more about them.
Event one out of four
Beach clean up
The beach cleanup this saturday was a big day not just for myself but for all the beaches. I felt rewarded by being a part of this event, being able to make our beaches cleaner and safer to walk on. seeing all my friends and hanging with them was another good thing about this experience while we were hanging out we were helping our beaches not being contaminated with trash bottles and cigarette butts.its amazing how much trash accumulates in a matter of days, weeks, months but we all know that by picking this up it wont be dragged into the ocean and harm all of the fishes and other critters. I have never been in an event this big and rewarding in my life and im glad I was part of this I can pass by now and know that i helped my community beach stay something great to see and visit. after we worked an event that I know I will be going back again next year with more friends so we can have a part in helping our world and oceans stay clean and uncontaminated and be glad that we all made a difference not only in our beaches but in our lives.
